Today's SOTD was definitely inspired by my recent trip back to the islands...in particular, Nevis.
I know it's George Michael...George Michael in WHAM nonetheless...and it's corny and cheesy...but I don't care. It's very sentimental to me.
It was playing in the background, when I had a very memorable moment with someone special...on one of the holes of the Four Seasons golf course...under a bright, shining, full Caribbean moon, as the Windward winds swirled around the palms, and caressed us.
Every time I hear it...I'm instantly transported back to that night...moment...and him.
I thought of him a lot when I was back in Nevis this time.
We just wrapped "Week 4: Jesus' Love is Absurd," in RESET.
In Prompt 03, the challenge was learning how to ABIDE in Jesus.
And exactly how does one ABIDE?...
ABIDING= Following God's Commands + Receiving Continuously From God + Trusting in God's Promises (in Good Times and Bad)
The study must've really been on my mind, because I woke up this morning singing this song...
May Your voice be louder May Your voice be clearer Than all the others, than all the others
May Your face be dearer May Your words be sweeter Than all the others Than all the others in my life
Please keep my eyes fixed on You Please root my heart so deep in You Keep me abiding, keep me abiding Keep me abiding that I Oh, that I might bear fruit
May Your presence be truer May Your presence be nearer Than all the others, than all the others
May Your light burn brighter May Your love go deeper Than all the others Than all the others in my life
Okay, so it's not exactly Sunday...but the weather here in the Cintucky is cold, dreary, dark gray, windy, wet and gloomy.
This song has been playing in my head all day...
I don't know if me being born during a hurricane (David, '79), has something to do with it, but stormy, rainy, thundery weather makes me come alive. I feel so one with nature...with myself...and with God. It's kinda animalistic and innate in a way.
I love stormy weather the best and more than most. I absolutely adore it. Sometimes, I feel like Dracula and want to dramatically shrink away behind my cape, when the winds and rain cease and the sun breaks through a stormy day.
It's the perfect weather to stay home, in PJs & fuzzy socks, cuddle up with the kitties, eat & drink, watch romantic movies, do a little reading here and there, dream of...and make love.
Maybe she should've pursued singing over acting, for a more viable career...though she does play crazy extremely well...but I don't think that's acting...that's just reality for her.
But I digress...
I kill the treadmill with this song...at least for 3 minutes and 15 seconds!
8 "Your hands shaped me and made me. Will you now turn and destroy me?
9 Remember that you molded me like clay. Will you now turn me to dust again?" Job 10: 8-9 (New International Version)
**************
16 You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, "He did not make me?" Can the pot say of the potter, "He knows nothing?"
Isaiah 29:16 (New International Version)
**************
9 "Woe to him who quarrels with his Maker, to him who is but a potsherd among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, 'What are you making?' Does your work say, 'He has no hands?'
My times are in Your hands I know I'll never understand But I'll trust in You Sometimes my heart grows cold I'm sorry when I take control How I'm needing You
Even when I fall You help me stand Even when I'm lost You take my hand
I will hold on I will hold on I will hold on Yes, I will trust in You
My life is in Your hands You hold the key to who I am And I'll trust in You Sometimes my heart is stone I'm sorry when I walk alone How I'm needing You
Since it's Rick Astley's 41st birthday, it's only fitting that today is the official day and reason to get RickRolled!!!
Why don't they make music like this anymore??!! Or videos??!! Those moves, the wardrobe, the lighting, the sets, the camera panning effects, the backup dancers/models, the pompadour! Someone please explain this to me!
Have you ever woken up singing/humming a song? I mean literally, as you woke from a deep REM sleep and as you slipped back into consciousness, a tune was already playing in your head and you were mouthing the lyrics?
Well, it happens to me. A lot. I don't know exactly when it started happening, but it definitely started sometime after I entered my twenties (~ nine years ago.)
Some days, the genre varies, I have woken up singing everything from Nine Inch Nails, to Johnny Cash, to Run D.M.C., to gospel hymns. It's wacky crazy.
And I don't think that anything really triggers the singing. Nothing from the previous day/night, any media influences, or any dreams that I've had. I just wake up singing random songs. And then for the rest of the day, the song's stuck in my head and all I do is think about/sing the song.
I'm a HUGE music junkie. At one point, I had more than 4,000 mp3 files on my old desktop...that I actually PAID for. If it weren't for a bad virus wiping out my hard drive...and me NOT backing up my data, I would've still had those files...and I prolly would have closer to 10,000 files today. Oh well, you live and you learn.
I'm sooo into music that I sometimes wonder if I missed my calling somehow. Please refer to #13, here.
